Admission Requirements
Start building your new career in criminal justice with IWU’s BSJ distance learning degree. Apply now to begin the journey towards attaining your Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice today.
Our BSJ distance learning degree program requirements are the same as those for students exploring the on-campus BSJ program. Admission for the BSJ distance learning degree consists of four simple steps:
- Proof of high school graduation or GED certificate.
- A minimum of 60 semester credit hours earned from a regionally accredited college or university or from a school accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education. (If students have less than 60 credit hours, they may enroll in course work at Indiana Wesleyan University before being admitted into the Criminal Justice program).
- A minimum of two years significant full-time work experience beyond high school.
- Submission of an application for admission to the distance learning degree program and all required items for the admissions process as outlined in our application procedure page.
Requirements for International Students
For those whose first language is NOT English, IWU requires you to take the TOEFL exam to be considered for the BSJ distance learning degree program. The minimum TOEFL score is set at 550 (213 CBT format of TOEFL.)
So that we can be sure international students have the appropriate college or university level education, another requirement is a "course by course" evaluation of your transcripts done by an organization such as Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).
THIS EVALUATION IS REQUIRED FOR STUDENTS WHO HAVE OBTAINED ANY OF THEIR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY CREDIT DEGREES FROM INSTITUTIONS LOCATED IN COUNTRIES OTHER THAN THE UNITED STATES.
(Graduates of some universities and colleges in Canada are also exempt from this "evaluation" requirement.) You may learn more about ECE and what it does by visiting their website at http://www.ece.org.
