Certificate in Criminal Justice

This program affords students the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge in the field of criminal justice. In addition to an overview of criminology, criminal justice, and the psychology of personality, this program provides specific emphasis in alcohol and drug education and corrections that can be of great benefit to people in social services, security management, many types of compassion ministry, and other professions and services. The certificate itself serves as documentation of this accomplishment, as does the transcript notation. By developing these essential skills, students completing the Criminal Justice certificate can acquire a valuable competitive advantage in any career or profession.

The certificate in Criminal Justice is available to both degree-seeking students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs and unclassified students seeking only the certificate itself. For those students enrolled in degree programs, the certificate not only meets many of IWU's elective requirements for graduation, but is eligible for financial aid under the same terms as the degree program.

Completion of a certificate program while pursuing a college degree can serve as a signal to prospective employers that you are a person with the drive and determination to excel. Not only will the course of study enhance your understanding of justice and human behavior, but earning the certificate will distinguish you from others in your workplace or employment market.
