Certificate in Communications
This program affords students the opportunity to develop proficiency in both written and oral communications, along with a solid foundation in communication theory. The certificate itself serves as documentation of this accomplishment, as does the transcript notation. By developing these essential communications skills, students completing the Communications certificate can acquire a valuable competitive advantage in any career or profession.
The certificate in Communications is available to both degree-seeking students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs and unclassified students seeking only the certificate itself. For those students enrolled in degree programs, the certificate not only meets many of IWU's elective requirements for graduation, but is eligible for financial aid under the same terms as the degree program.
Completion of a certificate program while pursuing a college degree can serve as a signal to prospective employers that you are a person with the drive and determination to excel. Not only will the Communications course of study enhance your communications ability, but earning the certificate will distinguish you from others in your workplace or employment market. Becoming a better communicator can only serve to improve your personal relationships, as well.
Certificate Program Admission Requirements
The admission requirements for the certificate programs are as follows:
- Proof of high school graduation or GED certification
- A minimum of two years of significant full-time work experience beyond high school.

Certificate Program Completion Requirements
- Successful completion of the 15 semester hour curriculum
- A grade of C or higher in each of the five undergraduate level courses
- Payment of all Tuition and Fees
Upon successful completion of the required course work and other requirements (listed above) Indiana Wesleyan University will issue a Certificate in Communications and enter a notation on the student's official transcript attesting to completion of the certificate program.

In addition, IWU's educational programs are accredited by the Indiana Professional Standards Board (IPSB) and the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
