Certificate in Human Services

This program affords students the opportunity to acquire specialized knowledge of the field of human services. In addition to an overview of sociology, cultural anthropology, and the psychology of personality, this program provides specific emphasis in current social problems and issues in marriage and family that can be of great benefit to people in business, ministry, health care, community and social services, and many other professions and services. The certificate itself serves as documentation of this accomplishment, as does the transcript notation. By developing these essential skills, students completing the Human Services certificate can acquire a valuable competitive advantage in any career or profession.

The certificate in Human Services is available to both degree-seeking students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs and unclassified students seeking only the certificate itself. For those students enrolled in degree programs, the certificate not only meets many of IWU's elective requirements for graduation, but is eligible for financial aid under the same terms as the degree program.

Completion of a certificate program while pursuing a college degree can serve as a signal to prospective employers that you are a person with the drive and determination to excel. Not only will the Human Services course of study enhance your understanding of people and ability to provide them with essential support, but earning the certificate will distinguish you from others in your workplace or employment market.
